Summer Reading List Linky

Happy Memorial Day!! I want to start by thanking all of the men and woman who have served and currently serve our country for all that you do! Today is also my Dad's birthday so my family is celebrating with some fun in the sun and yummy BBQ!

These first two I have read before but they are at the top of my professional recommendation list.  I LOVE these books!

The Cornerstone by. Angela Powell

Angela's book is full of practical management solutions for every aspect of your teaching world. It's a must read for new teachers but experienced teachers will still take away a plethora of great ideas!

Teach Like a Champion by. Doug Lemov

Doug's book focuses on instructional techniques, lesson components, delivery techniques, and class routines. It's for anyone who is looking to do some personal professional development, you can pick and through the areas you would most like to improve and also comes with a DVD of teachers implementing each technique in their classroom. My favorite thing about the techniques is they are effective K-12 and the DVDs will model each technique 2-3 different times at various grade levels. 

   

                          

 (I will also be reading my D5 book again. I've read it cover to cover before but the end of this year was the closest I've ever gotten to having the program up and running (thanks in large part to my student teacher) and this coming year our whole primary team wants to get on board- yay!!  I also want to read through No More I'm Done because I hear it's a good one for Writers Workshop management tips.)

Moving on to my leisure reading...Am I the only one who feels like I do not have time to read for fun until summer vacation rolls around?


 I am a HUGE Jodi Picoult Fan! Her stories always central around highly controversial issues and she captures the grey areas so remarkably. I've read almost all her books but I still have a few that I haven't and Perfect Match is the next one on my list.

And I think I am going to jump on the Hunger Game bandwagon. I can download the books for free on my Kindle from the lending library so myself and Katniss will be spending some time together at the pool this summer.

I can't wait to see what everyone else is going to be reading so I can add to my list!
