This is my brand new teacher chair!! It came to be thanks to Wolfelicious's tutorial and Kindergarten Corner's chair reveal here. They inspired me-- thanks ladies! And now my chair looks like this. Hello teal and sparkles love!!
And in case you're wondering, below is my teacher chair before. It was old and stained and not fun in any way shape or form.
So the "face lift" really did make a big difference!
I got the fabric for my new chair 50% off at Jo Ann Fabrics. Which leads me into my New Discovery that is going to save me lots of money on my future Monday Made It projects. Seeing as I'm not the biggest DIY girl on the block (I mostly live my DIYness vicariously through Pinterest) there is a good chance that this is really old new for many of you. But I figure there must be at least one person out there who will find this as helpful. Maybe?
When I didn't have a coupon for Jo Ann's the day of my chair make over, I took to the internet to find one. Only instead of finding a paper coupon, I found the Jo Ann Mobile App for my phone.
Screen Shot to the left: What the app looks like when opened. Not only will the coupons automatically load onto my phone now (like the 50% off one full priced fabric one I used for my chair) but it saves them to my "wallet" and they can be reused until they expire. You just click the coupon you want, type in your number, and hand the cashier your phone.
Screen shot to the right: These are the similar Hobby Lobby and Michaels Apps I downloaded immediately after. Now I always have coupons to my favorite crafty stores with me. Which is helpful and dangerous all at the same time.
Ok, now that I've shared my discovery, I have one more Monday Made It to show you. Only I didn't make this one. My bestie who teaches 2nd grade did. She doesn't have a blog but it's too fabulous not to share. So I am sharing it for her! Please note, I'm not taking the credit for it, even though I wish I could.
This is a picture of what her mini fridge looked like before. (Ok, so this isn't actually her fridge but it's one I found on google that looked exactly like it.) Everything else in her room is bright, glittered, and zebra striped so needless to say, it was an eye sore. And I bugged her all year to paint it.
But she didn't paint it. Instead, she bought three rolls of duct tape and did THIS!!
How cool is that!?
Okay. Now I'm off to continue working in my classroom for the next 1267346 hours or so. I shared some of my scary BEFORE pictures this weekend. I've come just a few baby steps further since then.
I started putting it up some fadeless black bulletin board paper to pair with my bright Owl 'n' Dots decor. I'm not sure if I like it yet though. So it may be coming back down again soon and I might try something else. Does anyone just use borders without paper underneath to frame important walls and spaces in your room? I'm thinking of going that route. Or possibly using bright colored paper instead of the black. If you can't already tell for yourself, I'm having an incredibly hard time being decisive lately. It's becoming a problem.
Hoping to figure it all out sooner than later. I promise to keep you posted one way or the other :)
Good Morning to you - and wow, aren't you brave? I had seen the chair tutorial, but yikes - it scared me! Your new chair looks terrific - beautiful color.
ReplyDeleteAnd the apps - Did Not Know That! So thanks for sharing, and yes, that may be dangerous for me, too :)
And the fridge - tell your friend that is too cool.
My bulletin boards are kind of yucky so I feel like I have to put something up over them and then the border. If you don't have to, I wouldn't.I'm going to use fabric (I did last year, too and it worked really well) and use sort of bright green and blues.
I'm on my last official week of vacation, too, and I'm seriously bumming out!

Love the fridge - how cute
ReplyDeleteLove the chair. I use black paper, well I acutally painted mine black, but all of bullentin boards in my room are black. I have a primary colored theme with polka dots and it all really "pops" off of the black background. I would leave yours black, I think you will like it once you put things up!
