Dear August,
How on earth did you get here so quickly!?
I knew it was August before the Currently linkies started appearing, but for some reason seeing them makes it feel more official. Believe it or not this is my first time actually participating in Farly's Currently Party!! I always love reading them but never got in on the fun myself until tonight.
1. Listening: It's 11:00 PM right now and while the rest of my house is asleep my crazy
2. Loving: I have been wanting a director's chair for my classroom for a really long time. Last summer I stalked craigslist and just about evey store possible, hoping to find a thrifty a bargain chair. But I never did and I couldn't justify buying one at full price. Then this week I took a peek on the Pier One website and for the first time ever, they were on sale! And I had a coupon!! It still wouldn't necessarily qualify as a "thrifty" purchase. But I saved $20, and that was good enough for me.
And if I wasn't already sold when I got to the store, the lone hot pink cover that was sitting on the shelf did me in!! I love the color and the best part was, it was on clearance for $5.00!!! And THAT definetly qualified as thrifty in my book ;)
3. Thinking: Is there anyone not thinking this right now? Because if there is, I'd love to know your secret. Don't get me wrong, I have appreciated every blissful day of break! Especially since I know people like my
4. Wanting: I've entered every giveaway possible hoping that maybe just maybe I could win one of these bad boys to avoid the splurge. I even told myself: Self, you can have the directors chair or the planner, not both. But then Rachelle and Randi hosted a huge Erin Condren giveaway, on the same day that Erin Condren posted a $10 off code for teachers!! And before you knew it, myself and I decided that we do in fact need to own one of these planners if we couldn't win one first. But we didn't win. Sooo, now myself and I are probably ordering one. (Please don't judge us-!!)
5. Needing: This picture captures my rationale perfectly. True? Probably Not. How I feel? YES!
Which means I need to accomplish a whole lot in the next few days
because I have plenty of planning, copies, and paper work to start
sorting through too. If you recall, part of the title to this post was "The Before Pictures." They're not pretty. They are in fact a bit scary. So when you see them and gasp, please don't say I didn't warn you.
The main purpose of me showing you these pictures is to motivate me to get the "After" photos up ASAP!! Which will involve some serious work on my end over the next couple of days. Also, because I want to illustrate just how different everything is going to look with the new theme and colors I decided on for the year. Oh any maybe just maybe there is a teeny tiny part of me hoping that I'm not the only one with a room that currently looks like a tornado just ran through it. Maybe?
6. B2S Must Haves: I posted about my new book bin find here, earlier this week. And I just found out we will be still be getting a little bit of a classroom budget this year. (YAY-!!) Which means now I can purchase them. This makes me pretty stinkin happy!
I also need to pick up some laminating sheets for my little Scotch Laminator I got earlier this year. I seriously love this thing. If you've been thinking about getting one for your personal laminating needs, I assure you that you will not be disappointed!
And last but not least..the Target 5 minutes from my house didn't have these guys, but the one the next town over did :)

I love that I'm not the only one who focuses on the decorating portion of classroom setup before I can even get my mind around anything in the planning realm!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I can't focus on a thing to teach until our classroom environment is ready! I love those little pocket charts from Target!

Super cute and organized classroom definitely = a great year!!! haha I got my EC teacher planner in the mail this morning and I am SO excited!! I can't wait to write in it!!! I love your director's chair and think they are super cute in classrooms! I'd wanted one for a while, but couldn't find one so I settled with a wicker chair from IKEA and will probably stick with that until it starts falling apart! It has a hot pink cushion though, so we are definitely on the same page there!! Good luck getting your room organized! I am at the same stage right now!! And I love the purple pocket charts!! I have been wanting purple forever, but can't find them at my Target or Lakeshore... guess I'll have to keep looking!!

Like all the others have said and I agree...academics can be focused on after the environment/organization is done. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that ecard...it's SO PERFECT. (I must steal it!) I think only teachers understand.

Hi Stephanie!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through Farley's Currently blog hop. I too feel that I must tackle to decoration portion of back to school preparation, before I can do anything else. It's my home away from home, so I want to feel comfortable an in a happy place when I'm there. I'm a blogging newbie and would love it if you'd hop over to check out my blog when you get a chance.
