#CREATE2EDUCATE WITH MICHAELS

 Few things get me more excited about starting a new school year than shopping and crafting new projects for the classroom. So I was thrilled when Michaels asked me join in their #create2educate Back To School Sweepstakes and head to their closest store to get my craft on!

I decided this was the perfect opportunity to create something that's been floating around in the back of my mind for awhile. This "Gold Pencil" frame is going to be the perfect way to highlight my young authors throughout the year and let them show off some of their best work! I also think it will help show just how serious Mrs. Stewart is about writing in the classroom!!

It's an easy project to re-create.

1. Head to Michaels and visit the frame, wood, and acrylic paint aisles. Also grab some velcro.

 2. Lay it all out and start painting. Not pictured- wood glue & velcro I had at home.

{I got a little ahead of myself and painted that little frame yellow before this picture.}

 

3. Paint the letters. I did two super sloppy {clearly} coats of metallic. Then one coat of the glitter.

 4. Now glue your letters using a glue gun or wood glue. And adhere the yellow frame on with velcro so it can easily be removed and put back when you change out the author's picture. The last thing I did was add a glittery-gold pencil to the side. :)

I had to scrounge to find some kid writing from last year since it's summer still and they took it all home. It got my wheels turning though of all the different ways a child's work could get put in the frame for the week. Good handwriting, complete sentences, a detailed sentence, and working up to short paragraphs and stories. Every child will have their week in the frame featuring their personal best work!
