I love me some Pinterest!! I love it so much I even dressed up like her for Halloween this year! Aside from the blogs that I already follow, Pinterest is
my number one favorite place to score new ideas and resources for my classroom. It can also be a really great way for you to spread your own classroom ideas to a
wider audience. But it can also be a real bummer when you go to click on
something you Pinned only to find that the pin does NOT lead you directly to
what you were hoping to find. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve still found a lot of
awesome new blogs this way. And because I’m very familiar with blogger, I can
usually use the search engine to find what I was looking for. But I’m
not sure everyone out there takes the time to do that extra bit of searching. I
recently realized that I had been pinning a lot of things from my blog that
were only linking directly to the posts they came from. BUMMER!!
But now that I realize what it was that I was doing wrong, I will never make that mistake again. Many of you probably already know this, but for the handful like me who didn't realize they weren't doing it right, I thought would go ahead
and share...
If you're pinning from somebody's blog post, you want to make sure you have clicked on the actual title link to the post. Once you've done that you can pin freely and it will lead you directly back to the post that you pinned from. BUT - if you pin something and then realize you weren't tapped directly into the post it came from and just pinned something you found while scrolling through their blog, this is what you can do:
1) So you start out business as usual by selecting the image you want to pin....
2) ...And then selecting the board you want it in, editing the text, and clicking Pin it!
3) Then this screen comes up right away and you will want to click See Your Pin.
4) Once you do you image will be shown and you have the option to Repin or Edit. Click Edit.
5) Now you can see the link source. Right now this image will take a pinner directly back to my blog but NOT the specific blog post that this image is from.
6) So you will want to go to the blog post your image comes from and copy that specific URL.
7) Paste the direct URL into the LINK box and click save.
Now when someone re-pins your pin or clicks on it from your board, it will take them directly to the post that it came from! You will want to make sure you edit with the direct URL right away because if you wait and do it later, anyone who has already pinned it will not benefit from your edit and it will still just take them to the original source that was in the link box.
