Welcome to Team Teaching Tuesday

Welcome to the first ever Team Teaching Tuesday!!!

I am SO excited to launch this new segment on my blog today :)

Those of you who read my blogging New Year Resolutions last week were the first to hear about it. It's a pretty fitting start date for me too seeing as it's my first day back after a much enjoyed Holiday break. So before I get to the meat and potatoes of this week's topic, let's talk a little more about what this is and how it came about....

I started blogging this past year because it was a place for me to connect with teachers on a global scale. It's a place for us to share our ideas and  collaborate together. That's why I blog. That's why I read other people's blogs. That's how my Pinterest Boards get flooded with new ideas!! Can I use them all? I wish-!! But the great thing is, even if I can't always use every idea in my room, I can always share them with others who can. Enter Team Teaching Tuesday! Every Tuesday I will post a topic and invite others to link up as many blog posts as we can on that topic.  My hope? A mix of veteran and new bloggers of different grade levels will share their posts and we will have a spot to showcase all the amazing ideas on a variety of topics. And readers, this one is really for you!! I want to bring you as many ideas to you in a one stop shopping spot as possible, but I'd also love to hear what you think. So if you don't have a blog, I'd still love for you to share your ideas and insights by commenting on the post. That's right - no blog needed to get in on the Team Teaching Action!!

Ok on to today's first Team Teaching topic....

Classroom rules. We all have them. But they're not all the same. I'd love to see yours!!

These are mine. I've used them for the past four years. My thinking is they cover just about every infraction a kiddo can make by using some broad general language. I typed them up in a hurry at the start of the year. They're in serious need of a makeover- eek!! But they're what is currently hanging in my room. And I'm all about keeping it real. So there they be!

One of the cutest ways I've seen to introduce rules in the classroom came from Lyndsey at A Year of Many Firsts in her Friends In First Pack. Not only does she have good rules, but she's got a character for each one!

Sometimes I wonder if I should consider making my rules more specific, like these ones from Mrs. Ricca's Kindergarten that I found on Pinterest. How cute do those look?? She has them free for grabs on her blog!

I also know lots of people have begun implementing Whole Brain Teaching into their classrooms. My sweet friend Nicole from Teaching With Style put together some darling Whole Brain Teaching rules and has them for free on her blog.

I hope you've enjoyed the first Team Teaching Tuesday!!

I'd love for you to join the fun share your rules with us all.

There are just two guidelines that I ask you to please follow:

 1) Please link directly to a blog post on the topic for the week. This way readers don't have to go searching to find your post.

2) Grab the button above and link back here so that readers can easily find all the others who are joining in on the action.

Ez-peezy!!

And don't worry if you can't actually get a post in on "Tuesday" - you are welcome to join in on any day of the week!! :)

  2. Hello! Love this blog post. I'm just about to start my first year of teaching and I love the idea of your Team Teaching Tuesdays.. I will definitely be checking this out (and hopefully contributing) each week.

I plan on making the rules WITH my kiddies, so it's meaningful for them & so they fully understand what is expected of them.
