Wowie Wow Wow!!

 Wowie Wow Wow!!! (Channeling my inner Junie B. Jones at the moment) So many of you have entered my 100 Followers Write This Way Giveaway and I couldn't be happier about all the new bloggy friends who are now following!!:)

Yesterday I spent half of my day cleaning my house & doing laundry because I want it all done before I leave on Saturday for a two week trip to the East Coast. I'm originally from New York so I am getting to visit friends and family I haven't seen in a long time, be the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding, and spend a few days with my sister in law and nephew in Vermont.

{I Love Summer!!}

I spent the other half of my day at school going over lots and lots of new curriculum, with my new teaching partner, and our new principal. There is a lot of NEW happening in my teaching world this year! So I'm very grateful to have you all along for the ride to share all of the newness with.

Are you going through any big changes next year?

 I want to quickly share a quote I found that pretty much sums up how I feel about everyday life in 1st grade.

Disney gets it

This is also kind of my mantra for this year.

 I think I am going to frame this one and hang it in my classroom.

  1. I love that little saying. :) Can I be nosey and ask you a question?!?! Is CSCOPE in your new curriculum?? Last year was our first year to implement it for our math, science, and social studies so I am dying to know if anyone else uses it!!

  2. It's a good one!!

    Michelle- Nothing nosey about it :) It's not CSCOPE although I have heard that name before. It's Core Knowledge. My school was founded as a CK school but the past 2 years admin told us we were moving away from it and focusing on state standards. But our contract with the district states we are a CK School and it's recently been aligned with Common Core, so we're going back to it. Our new principal is a CK guru, so I'm excited to learn from her but I just spent 2 years creating new Science & S.S. units and now I have to start over again from scratch. So it's also kinda stressful. I'm sorry I couldn't help you with CSCOPE!

  3. Yes, we are implementing the Common Core, which means new everything and different writing requirements for our writing portfolios. And we have a new principal, too.

  4. I seriously love that you just quoted Disney. He's one of my fave people! Don't worry about the new curriculum or co teacher. This was my first year with a coteacher and I have to say that I was very nervous but it worked out amazingly! The key is being positive and realizing that its a relationship like any other in your life. You have to make compromises, but it's worth it in the end!

  5. I also really like the quote and have a coworker that would love, love, love it. I'm going through a bunch of changes next year. Our average class size for the school is 18 because it's a rural area. My incoming class size is 28 and my principal wants me to try team teaching instead of splitting. This decision is because of a space issue in the school. I'm also looking into adopting daily five because of the class size and the great reviews from all you other awesome teachers. Does anyone have any suggestions for team teaching? I'm kind of nervous especially since we don't have anyone hired yet.

I am trying to figure out how to enable individual comments on my blog so I can respond to you all individually but until I get that up and running I just want to say thanks for sharing your changes with me, I know things are always changing.
