My Truth: Fitness

My girl Denise at Sunny Days in Second Grade is starting a 12 week series called My Truth Monday! One of my favorite parts about blogging the past two years has been getting to know various bloggers along the way. This just feels like one more way to share who I am in and outside of the classroom with all of you! I'm excited for the first topic in the series because fitness is something I've been wanting to blog about since the summer. And oddly enough, I find that my truth about fitness is very closely linked to my classroom life. I'll explain...

I like to tell myself that if there were extra hours in the day I would use them to workout. But in reality even if there were extra hours I'd still probably find some other way to fill that time, because there is ALWAYS something else I could be doing. Since I'm never going to FIND the time (Trust me, I've looked!!!) I really need to MAKE the time.To me fitness embodies all around healthy behaviors, not just exercising. So here are a few things I know I can be better about...

- Drinking enough H2O

The truth is if I drink a lot of water then I need to run to the bathroom. A lot. Like, a crazy lot. So I don't really drink water during the day. I don't think there is solution to that problem. But my best friend bought me this bad boy when I have having a particularly stressful week this year. I know, how awesome is she!?!  And I love my new cup, that I sipped from all day today!

- Catching enough Zzzzz....

Yall' I'm SUCH a night owl!! I've always wished I could be a morning person, but some things just aren't in the cards. It doesn't help that I get my biggest productivity surge around 9:00 PM. And I like to stay up and create things to use in my classroom, especially when I'm really rolling on a new unit...#teacherproblems.

-Oh Snap!
Sugar is my kryptonite. Nuff' said.

- Making my workouts a PRIORITY.

I end back at my original point. My sister in law instated a little "Family Workout Challenge" this past week for all of us adult "kids" to see who can log the most workouts between now and Christmas. My husband and his siblings are UBER competitive. I'm not really on their level when it comes to competitive drive, haha. But it was an incentive to start. So today I went to the gym and got my workout on for the first time in weeks! Because I have to start somewhere, so why not here.

October Planning, FLASH SALE, and Life...

Wheeeew-eee!!! You know when you get sick and just can't quite shake it and it goes on and on and on? That was me the past two weeks. Throw in a few mandatory PD's and Trainings on new assessments/literacy plans that we have to give/write before conferences next week and I feel like I've spent more time sniffling and looking at data than I have actually teaching. Let alone blogging. But I'm ready to jump back in....PUT ME BACK IN THE GAME COACH!!! ;)  I've had THREE subs in my room in the past two weeks so that I could attend the above mentioned trainings and ONE for the sick day I took in the middle of it all when I needed to try and drown my cold away in a bottle of Nyquil. Truth be told,  I'm stubborn about certain things I want to do with my kids. So when I know I'm going to be MIA a lot in a short time there are certain things I leave off of the sub plans until I can be back and there for them. ;)  #sorrynotsorry  So now, I'm trying to get my plans back on track.

My Instagram followers got a little peek at my whereabouts as I dive into said planning. Fall & Summer are my favorite times of year for a reason! Once I get the rest of my month plans finalized I will come back and post those too. For now, I wanted to show you two of my October staples...

Even with all my  absences lately, one thing that has stayed in the mix is my monthly writing prompts!! It's really nice to be able to write on the sub plans, "Writing center" and know my babes are going to stay on task without a lengthy explanation about what they need to do!

My October Common Core Writing Galore is the most recent in the series. I'm still working on finishing Nov-February. Hoping to finish them ALL by Thanksgiving. We'll see how that goes...

And last year I posted this Witches Brew Mini Unit that has since received a major face lift. If you already purchased, make sure you re-download to get the updated version!

This one was created around an original poem that I wrote. Lots of fluency practice and phonic sounds to be found!! We also practice some Explanatory Writing with this craftivity!

Here are some pictures I found on my phone from last year's crew.

My favorite part is how they each come on so unique to their creator!! I love how my kids put their own personality into their work!

In between the sneezing and the planning... I've been anxiously paying lots of visits to our new house as it continues to move along the building process!!! We don't have our official close date yet, but fingers crossed we should be moving in around a month from now!

Silly photo ops with the hubs...
"We have to look silly. Who takes serious pics standing in the laundry room!?"

And before I end this random post of sorts, I want to give a HUGE shout out to TPT!!!

 {Thank you TGIF! for the perfect button!!}

They reached 100,000 likes on Facebook! To celebrate, they are offering 10% off with the code "FB100K" through the end of the day. I decided to join them by putting my whole store on sale for 20% off too. Who doesn't love impromptu sales!?

Hope you all are enjoying your Sunday!! :)
